Hello and welcome! Thank you for coming to visit with me for a while.
My name is Sandy and I’m a Canadian writer/artist, enjoying life here in Southern California with my sweetheart of 31 years.
This online journal is meant as a way to capture moments in my days that bring peace, joy, beauty, fun, thoughtfulness, inspiration… It’s my hope that I’ll become even more aware of and more thankful for these blessings, grow quieter inside, and become more patient with myself and those closest to me.
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honorable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” ~Phillippians 4:8 (ASV)
A little trivia…

I’m up north in WA but was in central CA for years. Born in Monterey. Where abouts are you? Sam :)

Hi Sam :o) We’re a couple hours or so south of Monterey, in San Luis Obispo County — the coastal area of Morro Bay/Los Osos.
Monterey’s such a beautiful area. And the aquarium’s awesome! We were looking at moving up to the Sequim, WA area a couple of years ago, to be closer to my family, but decided to stick around here. Thought it would be better to stay where my husband already has a good job (prospects there were a bit iffy at the time we were doing our research and making inquiries) — plus, we really love it here. Have you been to that part of Washington?

Oh, I have read my share of Rosamunde Pilcher, Robin Pilcher, and Maeve Binchy! I am not familiar with the other authors.
I grew up in Santa Cruz, California. My mother’s side of the family back in the late 19th and early 20th centuries ran hotels in Big Trees State Park in Felton, California, and Big Basin State Park out of Boulder Creek California. We had a lovely truck farm in Felton, Ca. I’ve also spent a significant portion of my teen age years and early twenties backpacking, snow camping and cross country skiing in the high Sierras back in the early to mid 70’s.
Lots of wonderful memories!

Oh, shoot! I have another neat story! Back in 1978, in Santa Cruz, my viola instructor, Heiichiro Ohyama Asked me to joint him in a small ensemble. We were to play Brandenburg Concerto #6He told me, in his very strict, stern Japanese way, that I was not allowed to make one mistake (eeeek).
When the dress rehearsal came a really wonderful, young young man came to join us. He was amazing! He played the cello. It didn’t take long for the rest of us to realize that this young cellist was Yo Yo Ma playing under another name (lol!!). We had a wonderful time with him He was relaxed, fun, very kind and gracious.
The concert that even (First Congregational Church on High Street in Santa Cruz, was the Evening venue. We played Brandenburg #6, and Yo yo also played a viola d’ gamba piece. Of, course, his playing was out of this world (and he was only a year older than me!), flawless….. then the G string broke just as he was mid way or so thru the first movement. Without a hitch, he rather casually just used the C string and played up high in the fingerboard until he finished the first movement (or a section of the first movement). He left the stage for a few moments, replaced the broken G string and resumed playing as if nothing had happened! I’ll have to see if I can find something from that concert. Naturally, this concert was the highlight of my career.

Hey Sandy I too am a Canadian, and a french canadian at that. I posted this song for that reason alone. Deep within I am a french person but I have lost my first language long ago. When I had listened to this song several times the words came to me this is Isaiah 40, Those who wait upon the Lord shall mount up on wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, and walk and not fail. Im not sure I’m exactly on with my interpretation. It broke me up somewhere deep within there is still a spark of who I was as a child. Having Fibro has done a lot of damage errg!
God Bless your new year Sandy
