even more reason for hope

While researching why Navy Seal divers were having seizures when using their oxygen rebreathers* and ways to prevent them, they discovered an unexpected and truly effective treatment, a solution that went beyond the puzzle of the divers’ seizures and now gives a new reason to hope for those who have cancer and other serious health issues.

Starving cancer: Dominic D’Agostino at TEDxTampaBay

“Dr. D’Agostino is an Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida College Of Medicine, Molecular Pharmacology & Physiology where he develops and tests metabolic therapies, including alternative energy substrates and ketogenic agents for neurological disorders, cancer and wound healing. While studying the effects of gasses on the brains of Navy Seal divers, he developed an approach for metabolically starving cancer cells through diet and compressed oxygen, replacing chemotherapy, surgery, or radiation.”

* special breathing equipment used because it causes no bubbles and is very quiet allowing the divers to go undetected
