in the shelter of trees

in the shelter of tall trees by sld -1200

walking the pathway
alongside these
eucalyptus,
I am at once
sheltered,
refreshed,
dwarfed,
comforted,
humbled.

    1. Thanks Lori :o) Yes, the eucalyptus trees smell wonderful. They’re not indigenous to this area, which makes them kind of special, I think — the story I’ve heard is that back when the railroad was yet to be built here, a gentleman thought he’d plant groves of eucalyptus trees and sell them to the railroad company as wood for ties. It turned out that the wood wasn’t exactly suitable, the groves were abandoned, and we still get to enjoy them today.
