Recently, Steve Udell — a friend of ours and an excellent photographer — held a contest for the 5th graders at Bauer/Speck elementary school to write haiku poems that were interpretations of one of Steve’s images. I had the fun of reading some of the poems the kids submitted last year. They were wonderful!

spring’s gift turned gold, red
edges, veins, lingers on grey
threads, above brothers
