Yesterday morning, my son and I went walking to the garden and then towards the shoreline. What a special scene we found. We counted at least 60 egrets, a dozen herons, many cormorants, many many gulls, and a group of several white pelicans with a few brown ones. Wow! Never seen that many of the larger birds gathered together near the water’s edge. Especially surprising was the number of herons. It’s very rare to see even one along the shore. That picture will remain in our minds’ eyes a long while, I imagine.
